University of the Arts Case Study for ProntoForms
University of the Arts London (UAL) is a public research university located in London, United Kingdom specialising in art, design, fashion and media. It is a collegiate university comprising six constituent colleges. The university is Europe’s largest provider of education in art, design, fashion, communication and the performing arts, as well as being one of the most famous and prestigious art universities in the world.
ILG Business is a business-to-business technology provider specialising in public and enterprise application development and business mobilisation. With extensive experience in the technology industry, ILG Business strives to seek out new business solutions to help contribute to its clients’ success and enable them to remain at the forefront of modern technology.
The University decided that on top of the 10 contact points for UKBA requirements it would implement a robust method of weekly sign in to verify that an overseas student was in attendance each week at the University, in addition to registers for class. The initial suggestion was to produce a paper list of all students, although with UAL having 6 separate constituent colleges, this would not be a very manageable process. A more sophisticated solution was needed to handle the volume.
UAL had been using ProntoForms on a trial basis for students and tutors collecting work and thought it could prove to be a useful tool for the overseas weekly sign in. With the support of ILG Business, the University was able to create a simple form to upload all the enrolled students into. This made it easy when the student came in to sign in as they simply entered all or part of their student ID and it would default all their correct information. The member of staff would then have to check there name from the drop down list and then click to do the attendance, students therefore could go to any of the different UAL sites and sign in without any inconvenience and the data would then be stored centrally. At the end of each week we would receive a report out of ProntoForms showing who had signed in and who had not.
“The University of the Arts London are currently in the process of reviewing all of their paper forms including work submission by students to see if ProntoForms can be used throughout the processes at the University, this not only saving us time and money but making London College of Fashion very sustainable.”
